How long do you soak your hay for??

Chance is on haylage in the winter months, usually from mid November til March/April ish, but, for the months inbetween he is on soaked hay. Some of the peeps at my yard soak thier hay for up to 12 hours, sometimes more Shocked WHY???

I only submerge Chances until all the bubbles have gone to eliminate dust etc, this has been OKd by Vets. I dont see the point in soaking it for longer.....it makes the water go MINGIN !!!!! Mad

Ive heard some say that it takes out all the sugars, i am scepticle about this coz i was always led to believe you can feed hay (dry or soaked) adlib to any laminitic?? scratch My mums horse is laminitic and she doesnt soak her hay for any longer than i do scratch

I soak Demi's hay for 12 hours, this is because she's over weight and a real good doer. So soaking for 12 hrs or so takes the nutrient goodness out.
